Companies committed to a digital strategy will meet the expectations of the digitally-empowered patient.
Our Body Of Work
With roots in medical processes, healthcare data and computer engineering, Zaazi has 15 years of experience in the following areas:
We have experience designing and selecting health care software, giving us an understanding of its organizational value and pitfalls. Most importantly, we understand what’s possible with current medical software and can predict how the industry is moving forward. We have experience with healthcare data (both large and small pipelines), EHR architecture, interoperability, scheduling, clinical business logic, clinical decision support, user experience (both provider and patient) and telehealth.
Technology usually involves products and those technology product directions reflect organizational direction. We specialize in understanding the core initiatives and complexities of digital health products and technologies. We share this understanding with the company leadership and facilitate alignment that creates clear company initiatives. Our clients gain focus to move forward and build their enterprise value with less friction and expense. Our strategic planning engagements are most effective with well-seeded startups and venture-backed growth companies.
We were the catalyst for a national telepsychiatry platform to scale its operation across all 50 states. Zaazi conceptualized, built, managed and supported the entire technical infrastructure. We understand interstate regulations, billing systems, scheduling across different time zones, referrals, e-prescribing and how it all culminates to delivering care remotely. We designed the clinical data flow, liaised between software vendors, developed clinical procedures and trained hundreds of providers on telehealth and EMR procedures.
In healthcare, we understand the importance of developing the right product. Zaazi specializes in bridging the communication gaps that exist between tech, providers and patients. This is critical during a product life cycle, and what is often the most challenging part of healthcare software today. In concert with our strategic analysis, we help with product requirements documents, development, planning, resource allocation, success metrics, business justification, verification and marketing. We believe that emotional intelligence is imperative in a product manager, and thrive on building teams that feel connection to their work and the wider world of healthcare around them.
We are experts on healthcare information technology, data architecture and clinical data flows across EMRs, pharmacy, claims and research. We have designed the databases for an EHR including the table structures and relationships and developed the product roadmap for a practice management claims system. We have evaluated, built and iterated on large and small data pipelines. Healthcare data is nuanced; we require understanding the product down to the modeling of each data element, and how that element is used.
We have a special focus in healthcare data interoperability. Communication about healthcare data is a universal need. Healthcare data is already becoming the foundation of how we improve patient care. We have expertise in interoperability transport formats for healthcare data including FHIR, HL7, C-CDAs, CDAs and CDS hooks. We are versed in the way data must be communicated between systems safely and quickly. We work daily with foundational codified systems like SNOMED, CPT, RXNorm, GUID, NDC, ICD9 and ICD10, LOINC. We have helped organizations understand and respond to legislation that affects their data including HITECH, HIPAA Security Rule, PPACA (ACA), the MACRA Act and the CURES Act. We have connected siloed healthcare systems or pipelines to get healthcare data when and where it needs to be.
The EHR selection process, along with its implementation, tech stack integration, training and support are all significant events in determining the organization value of an EMR/EHR. We have helped clients build their clinical workflows in multi-year projects and worked extensively in the payer, provider, and patient ecosystem. We have completed 2015 Certification (CEHRT) with an EHR, prepared another EHR to certify, advised a third EHR on their telehealth offering, and designed the databases for a fourth EHR down to the table structures and relationships. We are familiar with 30+ EHR interfaces and/or their database decisions. We have gone through MIPS/Meaningful Use pipelines and reporting on smaller single-practice EHRs, or larger EMRs with millions of patient records.
Clinical workflows are some of the most complicated logic processes in the world. We have designed and debugged clinical patient and provider interfaces across devices and systems including medication management, document storage, images, claim systems, analytic platforms, EHRs and practice management (PM) systems. We simplify clinical workflows, or adjust them as needed with software updates. We take pride in teaching technical team members context about the healthcare products they are developing. We propose processes that allow an organization to extract the most value and control over these workflows, from high level overviews to suggestions about a specific algorithm.
Federal and state regulations impact how medical companies leverage technology. We understand how to build healthcare innovation in the environment of HITECH, HIPAA Privacy Rule, The Affordable Cares Act (ACA or PPACA), the MACRA act and the CURES act. These healthcare restrictions impact telemedicine, business marketing, patient privacy and the formalization of a company’s processes and trainings. Software companies are especially impacted by these guidelines, requiring cybersecurity vigilance and predicting future government-enforced features.
A marketing strategy is often interchangeable with the purpose of a company. We help clients understand and articulate their value in the marketplace. Beyond the basic forms of online marketing, we have expertise in “pull” or “inbound” forms of customer acquisition including content marketing, problem-solving sales approaches and the technology platforms that streamline these efforts. We build systems that interconnect marketing platforms like Hubspot, or low-code platforms like Salesforce and Quickbase as well as the industry-leading e-commerce platforms. We know how to use marketing insights and data to help companies maximize their customer acquisition cost.
We build empathetic teams that understand the pain points for patients in the current healthcare climate. Many of our team members have struggled with either their family’s or their own health issues. This makes Zaazi poised to understand how a patients and providers feel traversing a software journey. Through our engagements, we speak with physicians from all over the world, in many specialties, who tell us the challenges they face. This provides valuable insight to help build software against the current problems in the marketplace.
